At the beginning of October every year, two things happen: My boyfriend’s birthday, and the MLB post-season. It used to seem like, no matter what I did, how well his birthday went depended on how well the Sox were doing. A couple years ago, I threw up my hands in defeat…and gave him some Red Sox fan gear for his birthday. He loved it, of course, and still does, every year - even if the surprise factor has sort of worn off. This year, I was in a pickle: The Sox had made it to the ALDS and were duking it out with the Rays. I’d be jumping the gun (or I might be jinxing them!) if I bought him a dynasty banner or memorabilia from last year’s World Series. He already has a couple caps, and although he took the scissors to the Manny Ramirez jersey recently, I’m not ready to get him another one yet. So, what did I wrap up for him? A Red Sox Stainless Steel Travel Mug. Because there are two things that will never change: He’ll always love the Sox, and he’ll always love his morning coffee. This mug fits the bill - it’s made of manly stainless steel with the Red Sox logo, it holds enough to get him going in the A.M., but it’s not too large to fit in the car’s cup holders, and it just looks cool. We usually spend holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter with my husband’s extended family and the meat of choice is ham. There are always plenty of leftovers and we’re usually sent back home with several bags of various pieces of ham. I try to use them in different dishes from ham sandwiches to soups and stews. My favorite is this lima bean and ham stew. It makes a really good hardy, flavorful dish. It’s really good on a cold fall or winter day and the perfect way to use up leftover ham. I have a great family baked bean recipe that turns out fantastic whenever I use my stoneware bean pot. The stoneware keeps the beans from cooking too quickly, so the beans stay nice and firm, while absorbing the flavors. Plus, because the pots are stoneware, they don’t impart any tangy metallic flavor to the beans. I also appreciate that they keep the mess to a minimum - I can simply prepare the beans and stick it all in the oven to slowly cook instead of having to keep a constant eye on a stove top pan. If you have an above ground swimming pool the liner will be one of three types: beaded, overlap or unbeaded. They come in a whole range of sizes and colors so you need to ensure you get the correct one for your pool as most companies will charge you shipping costs should you need to return an order. For example, if you know you need 12 ft round overlap pool liner, when ordering it you just need to specify the sidewall depth, the color and style. Overlap liners are installed by overlapping the top of the pool wall and fixing a covering strip to seal. Continue reading “The 12 ft Round Overlap Pool liner from In The Swim”

When you start to compare cable and DSL providers prior to making a decision on which access provider to go with, there are several options you need to consider. Both cable and DSL are providing customers with high speed internet at reasonable cost and consistent reliability. Comparing not only the cost of monthly access, but also discounts, promotions and equipment costs in getting set up are important considerations. Additionally, it’s important to consider if these reduced costs are temporary for promotional periods that may eventually turn in to higher costs and fees as your contract continues.
