3 Little Ingredients Turn Ordinary Turkey Into Extraordinary
Turkey is a good value on a budget, and shouldn’t be just a fond memory. The trick is to serve turkey that is somewhat different than you made over the Holidays. A crock pot turkey recipe that mimics the traditional holiday meal, but doesn’t duplicate it, is just what the family ordered. How about just adding three little ingredients to set this turkey dish apart from just another roast turkey? By adding cranberry sauce, orange juice, and dry onion soup mix, you’ve just bumped the flavor up a whole heap. That tangy, sweet, and savory flavor will have you wondering why you don’t have turkey every week.
Granted, most all the slow cooker recipes you see are somewhat saucy, they don’t all have to be swimming in liquid. You need some kind of moisture to cook properly in a crock pot, but it doesn’t have to turn into soup. Some sauces are more of a glaze or perhaps a gravy. Try recipes that have both; some soups and some glazes. There’s room for both types of crock pot recipes. You’ve got to eat anyway, so why not experiment and have fun.
