I just love votive candles and I’d love to have them everywhere around my home, but between the kids and the dog and my own occasional lapses of forgetfulness it just isn’t a good idea. As much as I love candles, I’m not thrilled at the prospect of my home being reduced to a smoldering ruin. The Boston Turning Works F102 Finial is simply gorgeous and to me, reminiscent of the Faberge Egg. The smooth shape showcases the wood grain which comes alive if stained but likewise the smooth shape has a wonderful understated elegance if painted to compliment a décor. These finials are not only a wonderful addition to the stair rail inside the home but think what a nice touch they would be on a pool surround or deck rail. While the Faberge Egg originated in Russia in the 1800’s, one certainly doesn’t have to be a Czar to have them adorning their home if they so choose now. Our house has a second floor cat walk across the great room below. We added these finials to the hand rail on the cat walk and not a person enters our great room without commenting on what a lovely touch they are! Everybody loves garden structures. It doesn’t matter if it’s a large pond, or a huge pergola, people love to have a feature of some kind in their yard or garden. Well, I am no different, except I love garden structures so much I have several of them in my yard. My favorite is garden arbors. Six years ago, I was an unbeliever. That’s right; I didn’t believe that a post cap was anything more than a decorative topper that sat on top of the fence and deck post for show and show alone. I had read that the post cap would protect the posts from water and insect damage but I dismissed this as utter nonsense.
