Anytime you have a fence or deck you have to stop and think about protecting the wood from rot, water and insect damage. You learn this early on if you live in an area prone to termites like I do. Though the caps come in all sizes and shapes, there are some that are not as pretty as other’s but they do the job. We moved into a new home that had these types of wood caps and instead of changing them out, we added wooden finials to the caps on the fence and it has made all the difference in the world.

When it came to the deck, we went with solar post caps. The first thing we noticed is the look. They are very well made and look great! Next, we liked the fact that we could have light on the deck without having to run electricity or wires. The post caps use a solar cell battery that collects the charge by day and lights up the LED’s at night. So we were able to inexpensively and easily add lights to our deck outside without a lot of trouble or fuss. Now I like that!
