At the beginning of October every year, two things happen: My boyfriend’s birthday, and the MLB post-season. It used to seem like, no matter what I did, how well his birthday went depended on how well the Sox were doing. A couple years ago, I threw up my hands in defeat…and gave him some Red Sox fan gear for his birthday. He loved it, of course, and still does, every year - even if the surprise factor has sort of worn off. This year, I was in a pickle: The Sox had made it to the ALDS and were duking it out with the Rays. I’d be jumping the gun (or I might be jinxing them!) if I bought him a dynasty banner or memorabilia from last year’s World Series. He already has a couple caps, and although he took the scissors to the Manny Ramirez jersey recently, I’m not ready to get him another one yet. So, what did I wrap up for him? A Red Sox Stainless Steel Travel Mug. Because there are two things that will never change: He’ll always love the Sox, and he’ll always love his morning coffee. This mug fits the bill - it’s made of manly stainless steel with the Red Sox logo, it holds enough to get him going in the A.M., but it’s not too large to fit in the car’s cup holders, and it just looks cool.
